Good Morning, Camp Constantin Parents and Campers!

With our departure for Camp Constantin just 5 weeks from today, I have received -- understandably -- a few questions about whether we'll go, and what the refund policy is.  The net of this email is that the Council is being flexible on refunds and, in order to make sure each Scout can go (and can take the merit badge classes he wants) we need you to be sure your son is fully registered and paid and signed up for the right classes. 

So you have it in one spot, the FAQ refund information from https://circleten.ihubapp.org/posts/53816/camping-season-2020-updates---april-30-2020 (which has a lot of other information on how the camp plans to do what it does safely) is as follows:

Q: Will I be refunded if my camp session is cancelled by Circle Ten Council? Yes. If your session is cancelled by Circle Ten Council please choose from the following options:

• Save the funds as a credit to be used in 2021:
• We’ll hold the credit in your UNIT account (good for 2 years from your scheduled visit)
• Or receive a full refund for the amount paid

Q: What if I cancel my unit’s reservation early and my session is held as usual? Do I get a full refund? Yes. If you are not planning on attending your session and you contact your unit leader and Michael.Prachar@scouting.org at least seven (7) days before your session start date, you will receive a full refund of fees paid.

To be certain there are no ambiguities, I have asked the Council to confirm the following statement and I will let you all know if the following is not unambiguously affirmed by the Council:

If Troop 70 decides not to go to Camp Constantin, or if [any Troop 70] family decides not to participate, and we get that information to Circle 10 and Camp Constantin before the end of the day on May 30th, [the] family or the Troop will receive a full refund.

Separately, we need to be sure each Scout is signed up for the merit badge classes he wants to take, as the last day to do that is a week from this May 15th, and there will be no extensions -- anyone needing a change will need to wait in line at camp, which is a multi-hour experience in the best of years.  Importantly, if there is any risk your Scout will not pass the swim test and he is signed up for the Swimming Merit Badge or any other merit badge at the waterfront, now is the time to change his merit badge course selections to avoid this line.
