Troop 70 Scouting for Food

This past November, over 40% of the people going to the North Texas Food Bank were there for the first time. In these unprecedented times, now more than ever, we need to help those in need of food.

Scouting for Food has been working to fill this need since it was started in 1985 by the St. Louis Area Council. It expanded to cover the entire United States, and has grown stronger every year. This is a great opportunity for our Scouts to connect our communities with those in need.

Each year, Troop 70 goes into our community and places bags and flyers requesting non-perishable food donations. The next week our scouts go back and pick up the donations, and bring them to a local food pantry.

This year, over 20 scouts covered about 60 city blocks, and over 1000 homes distributing flyers and bags. The next week, they did it all again, picking up the generous donations of our neighbors, and bringing them to the Salvation Army for distribution.

We are ever grateful to our neighbors and scouts for their contributions and hard work to help our neighbors-in-need.
