Winter Camp
Camp Trevor Rees-Jones 2021
Troop 70 will be attending Winter Camp for the 6th year in a row! This year's Winter Camp will be from December 27th-31st at Trevor Rees-Jones Scout Camp in Athens, TX.
This is a great opportunity for our 1st year Scouts to work on their Trail To First Class requirements and for our older scouts to work on a few Eagle Required merit badges. Other fun activities include the Mountain Man camp, wood turning, and the Polar Bear Plunge!
Winter camp is a continuation of Troop 70s fall outdoor experience through the winter break. It is a fantastic experience at Trevor Rees-Jones.
Attendance at winter camp is strongly encouraged, especially for younger and TFC scouts and is very important for scout development. The shared experience with fellow scouts in a slightly adverse environment, gives each scout the opportunity to develop and practice leadership and teamwork skills.
Winter camp for our TFC scouts focuses on building the TFC skills, allowing them to advance more quickly. Scouts not needing the focus on TFC, should take merit badges classes, especially any Eagle required one. Winter camp is also a great place to practice some activities such as rappelling and orienteering.
Like summer camp, many merit badges are offered. Some of them are difficult to complete in a week and may only be partially complete.
Don’t forget to check the winter packing list.
Merit Badges
Sign up early for your merit badges and classes. Scouts in the Troop 70 TFC program should sign up for the winter camp TFC program.
Polar Bear!
The Polar Bear Plunge at Winter Camp is an invigorating experience. Not for the feint-of-heart, it is truly a winter experience. Step away from the fire and into winter!
Medical Forms
The complete health form, parts A, B, & C are required for camp. Part C must be completed by a physician. Be prepared and take it to your next wellness checkup with the doctor for completion.
